13: What can you not live without?

I cannot live without connection.  To other people, to nature, to animals, to a higher purpose, to the universal energy that flows through everything.  When I reflect on the times I was the most miserable, one common theme is that i felt disconnected from all of the things i just mentioned.. just completely isolated.  I think it’s easy to turn in on ourselves and feel defensive which blocks our connections to other people.  If we’re insecure, for example, which stems from the fact we don’t like or appreciate ourselves or doubt ourselves (which of course is culturally created and supported) and really reflects only a certain amount on how others actually react to us (depending on where we are socially located and who the audience is, of course… i am privileged in many ways to appear socially acceptable and thus be received better by people in certain spheres), we’re less likely to attempt to connect in an authentic way.  When I put myself out there with a certain energy.. one that is just, open and very authentically me and interested in interacting with people, assuming they will react well, i find i am more likely to be received well.  I think it’s why I am able to have friends who are very ideologically different from myself.. we find that human connection.  I also find that when i’m feeling particularly grounded & connected to the earth & tapped into the Universal flow is when I’m able to feel empowered and confident enough to act without fear of being judged.  It works together, uniting spiritual with the physical.  It’s part of what makes life so fulfilling and rewarding for me, that connection.
