Can’t say it? Don’t legislate it

Florida GOP: No Talk of Wombs on Statehouse Floor | Mother Jones. I know VAGINA is a terrifying word to many people… but uterus? It’s an organ… it’s like a lung or your bladder or your foot.  Randolph responded well:

“The point was that Republicans are always talking about deregulation and big government,” Randolph said Thursday. “And I always say their philosophy is small government for the big guy and big government for the little guy. And so, if my wife’s uterus was incorporated or my friend’s bedroom was incorporated, maybe they (Republicans) would be talking about deregulating. “It’s not like I used slang,” said Randolph, who actually got the line from his wife.

Women have been saying this forever, and i love that he gave his wife credit..  The GOP’s excuse was that it might be sensitive material for young people… how many babies go to the legislature? How many people from the public go in general? and why is uterus controversial at all? Should we not talk about lungs, either?  Oh, right, if kids hear “uterus” then you’ll have to tell them that’s where the baby is when it’s in mommy’s tummy and that the stork really doesn’t bring you. Grow up. If you’re kids are old enough to be going to LEG hearings they should probably know what a uterus is.. especially if the hearings are about uteruses (uteri? haha) nationwide.  I wonder if these men even know what a fallopian tube is.. The fact, though that the word uterus made these men all uncomfortable just shows how out of touch they are with women’s bodies, and why they have absolutely no right to be passing legislation on them.  The reason I found this article was because on twitter i kept seeing “cant say it? don’t legislate it! uterus uterus uterus”… i love twitter.

vagina vagina vagina!
