National Partnership for Women & Families: ‘Boobies’ Bracelets Trivialize Breast Cancer, Op-Ed Suggests.  Is it raising awareness?

On April 12, U.S. District Court Judge Mary McLaughlin of Pennsylvania issued a ruling that stated, “The bracelets … can reasonably be viewed as speech designed to raise awareness of breast cancer and to reduce stigma associated with openly discussing breast health.”

Or is it encouraging kids not to really tackle the issues b/c, hey, they got the bracelet (or tshirt, etc):

Orenstein suggests that instead of wearing the bracelets, young people “organize childcare or meals for mothers of small children going through treatment,” “volunteer in cancer resource centers,” “hold fundraisers for affected families whose mothers can no longer work,” or “spearhead projects on potential carcinogens in beauty products.”
