I’ve become acutely aware of this delusional myth that permeates our culture.  This myth as that social services and government programs are in place to help people who cannot help themselves or are otherwise lazy.  The truth is that social services and programs are in place to try and help (hopefully empower) communities that our nation has systemically disenfranchised.  These services are not expendable in the same way a billionaires income is.

ps: Obviously i’m not delusional enough to think that all programs run the way they should or have evidence based models or any of that.  But i think most do.  We’re obviously not in it for the money…
